No word yet on what the anchor spaces will be: Meow Wolf is keeping details under wraps for the time being. Pandemic- and economic-induced limitations, Richins says, “made us be more lean and more laser-focused on the parts of the exhibition that we are delivering on opening day,” but the entire space is expected to be fleshed out before guests are welcomed in. According to Meow Wolf’s latest progress report, 51 percent of the artists are women, 38 percent are people of color, and 20 percent identify as LGBTQ.įour of the floors at 1338 1st Street are dedicated exhibitions, with five anchor spaces in which Meow Wolf’s stories will come to life through visual and experiential media, as well as live actors (the first time Meow Wolf will use performers as part of an exhibition). It’s nearly twice the size of the Las Vegas exhibit, and will feature more than 110 local and diverse artists. Take your time, go up every staircase and open every door, and you’ll likely find a room all to yourself. If you wait for those people to leave, it’s perfectly comfortable to walk around and explore. I think there are quite a few people who only wander around the supermarket part, go into the back area for a few minutes and leave. We had a reservation for 3pm and there was a line to get in at 2:30, so we waited as close to our reservation time as possible. It’s up to each visitor to decide how invested they want to be. You could spend all day reading packaging, looking through drawers and picking up phones to figure out the storyline, or you could wander through and just enjoy how weird and wonderful the attention to detail is. It was hilarious, creative, intriguing and a little unnerving- which is exactly what art should do. I can't say anything else for fear of ruining the experience by poorly describing it and divulging spoilers. I can't stop telling all of my friends about OmegaMart, BUT. ![]() Curious, open-minded game-playing adults will be intrigued and better yet: children will not be harmed in the process, though they could grow bored. ![]() and then what happens? Who knows? OmegaMart is something like Disney crashed into a video game and scavenger hunt simultaneously. On this our second visit, we learned that we should have more earnestly pursued every card swipe the first time because we learned that when you complete all of the stations you can level up. If this intrigues you, expect to spend at least two hours there identifying and putting together clues about what happened to Dram Corp. As others will divulge, OmegaMart appears to be small grocery store/market except that the products for sale are weird variations of brands to which you are accustomed the meat section is revolting and something mysterious and somewhat alarming has taken place, which you then must figure out. ![]() Welcome to the future of interactive entertainment! This was our second trip to Omega Mart, in which three of us who had been there before followed a fourth around. ![]()
